Saudi Arabia has introduced stricter rules on road safety, with new amendments to the traffic law mandating the deportation of expatriates found guilty of dangerous driving offenses that put public safety at risk, Okaz Arabic daily reported.
Authorities confirmed that expatriates who receive a final court ruling for such violations will be expelled from the Kingdom and permanently banned from re-entry. The revised law was coordinated by the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and the Public Prosecution.
The amendments also impose harsher penalties for repeat offenders. A second violation committed within a year will automatically lead to the maximum fine, while a third offense could result in either imprisonment of up to one year or doubled fines.
Officials emphasized that the law now clearly identifies what constitutes violations endangering public safety and lays out the procedures for court referral, underscoring the Kingdom’s determination to strengthen accountability and safeguard its roads.
