Dubai worker who lost two fingers in job accident wins AED 70,000 payout

A Dubai court has ordered a company and two of its supervisors to pay AED 70,000 to an Asian worker who suffered permanent disability after a workplace accident, Khaleej Times reported.

The 32-year-old was operating a steel-bending machine when his hand was caught, leading to the amputation of two fingers. Investigations revealed that he had not been trained or given proper safety guidance before being told to use the equipment.

The Criminal Court earlier held the two supervisors responsible for negligence. They were fined AED 5,000 each and given one-month jail terms, suspended for three years. The court noted that their failure to enforce safety protocols led directly to the tragedy.

The injured worker later sought AED 150,000 in damages for medical costs and lost income. After reviewing medical records and the extent of the disability, the Civil Court settled the case at AED 70,000, ruling that the amount was a fair settlement for his suffering and losses.
