The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Dubai Chapter, in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, hosted the SPLE-FLEA Dubai Gala 2025 on August 24 to honor 31 newly licensed Filipino architects who passed the Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Architects last June.
More than a recognition ceremony, the gala carried the spirit of the SPLE-FLEA initiative—built on unity, mentorship, and the tradition of “paying it forward.” Families, mentors, UAP officers, and Philippine consulate officials joined the celebration, making it a night filled with pride, reflection, and renewed hope for the Filipino architectural community in the UAE and beyond.
In his keynote address, UAP Dubai Chapter President Ar. Christian Vasquez traced the roots of the initiative back to its humble beginnings.
“Fifteen years ago, a simple initiative took root here in Dubai—a volunteer-led review program, built on one principle: to help fellow Filipinos pursue their dreams. There were no fees, no expectations—only a sincere desire to give back,” he said.
That effort has since transformed into a movement that has helped over a thousand Filipino architects secure their licenses, not only in the UAE but also in countries such as Spain and Oman. Vasquez reminded the honorees of their responsibility to extend the same generosity: “You stand on the shoulders of mentors who once stood where you are now. The question is: Will you do the same for those who follow?”
Philippine Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, H.E. Marford M. Angeles, also addressed the gathering. He commended the architects for bringing distinction to the Philippines and stressed the value of their contributions not just locally, but within the global Filipino diaspora.
For the 31 new architects, the night was more than a milestone—it was a call to continue building a legacy that uplifts others. UAP Dubai encouraged aspiring architects in the community to stay connected for review programs and upcoming SPLE announcements through its official platforms.
