Palace brushes off Sara Duterte’s claims as ‘fake news’ ploy to oust Marcos

Malacañang has downplayed Vice President Sara Duterte’s latest accusations against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., saying they are nothing more than another bid to discredit him and grab the presidency.

The row was reignited after Duterte alleged that Marcos smelled of alcohol when she handed in her resignation as Education Secretary in June 2024. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro dismissed the claim, branding it part of a pattern of falsehoods meant to undermine the Chief Executive.
