Senator Rodante Marcoleta voiced his anger during a Senate committee hearing over a joke made about his appearance, describing the person behind it as “shameless.”
Speaking at the hearing, Marcoleta said the remark was made during a concert. “Pati po ako ay kanyang idinawit. Bigla ba naman niyang sinabi, ‘Tignan n’yo yung mukha ni Marcoleta kung matatawa kayo,’” he recalled. “Napaka walang hiya n’ung tao na ‘yon. Ayaw ko na lang siyang patusin.”
While the senator did not name anyone, a viral video showed comedian Vice Ganda delivering the joke. The same performance also featured a “jet ski holiday” gag that appeared to reference former President Rodrigo Duterte, including a trip to The Hague for his supporters.
In response, the Davao City Council passed a resolution condemning the joke about Duterte, saying he is “not merely a national leader” but a son of Davao who dedicated decades to public service, transformed the city, and later served as the 16th President of the Philippines.
