Filipino volunteers hailed for vital role in OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Jeddah

The recently concluded Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 8 and 9 proved to be a success—not only because of the government agencies involved, but also due to the dedication of Filipino volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) honored various community groups, including the OFW Council of Leaders, Guardians International, The Fraternal Order of Eagles–Philippine Eagles (Middle East Region–KSA), the Philippine Nurses Association, and other Jeddah-based organizations. Together, they deployed more than a hundred members to handle crowd control, assist in registration, and guide OFWs availing services during the two-day event.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, joined by senior officials and Philippine Consul General Rommel Romato, personally awarded Certificates of Appreciation to the volunteers in a fellowship after the caravan.

“Salamat sa inyo, naipahiwatig natin ang pagmamahal sa ating mga kababayan… sa pamumuno po ng ating Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.,” said Cacdac, expressing his deep gratitude. Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman added, “Events like these succeed not just because of official manpower, but because of the big hearts and willing hands of our kababayans.”

For Eagles Governor Faisal Latif, their contribution reflected their group’s guiding principle of “service through strong brotherhood.” OCL–Jeddah Director General Mojiedah Dakmash, marking their group’s 10th anniversary, praised the government’s proactive approach and vowed continued support.
