Remulla vows to pursue Ombudsman bid despite disqualification report

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has firmly declared that he will not withdraw from his bid to become the next Ombudsman, dismissing reports that he was disqualified from the selection process.

“I’m not giving up on my application,” Remulla said in a statement, following an Abogado.com.ph report citing an unnamed source who claimed the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) barred him from the race due to a pending case.

The Supreme Court clarified that the JBC has yet to begin the vetting process for candidates vying for the position.

Remulla filed his application in June, expressing confidence that he could contribute significantly if appointed as Ombudsman.
