Want to earn P100,000 a month? Philippine Embassy in Israel is looking for a translator

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Tel Aviv is now accepting applications for the position of Translator (Hebrew-English and/or vice versa), offering a starting salary of NIS 6,500 per month.

In an official announcement, the Embassy detailed that the position is open to Israeli nationals or holders of an Israeli permanent residence permit who have a Bachelor’s Degree, a strong command of both Hebrew and English, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media applications.

The successful applicant will be required to work on-site at the Embassy during regular hours, with the flexibility to work off-site when needed, including during official holidays and overtime assignments. They must also be in good physical and mental condition, with the ability to comply with the Embassy’s internal regulations and the terms stated in the Employment Agreement.

“The Translator will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between the Embassy and its stakeholders, including Israeli government agencies,” the Embassy stated.

Translator duties go beyond translation

While the primary task is to translate documents such as news articles and press releases from Hebrew to English and vice versa, the job also involves interpretation duties during court hearings, prison visits, and official coordination with government agencies.

Additional responsibilities include answering telephone calls, assisting with Embassy activities, and providing support to the Ambassador and Embassy personnel in matters involving commercial transactions such as liaising with banks, lessors, public utilities, and service providers.

The selected candidate may also be required to perform other functions “as may be required in the exigency of the service.”

Work schedule and benefits

The Translator will follow a five-day work schedule:

Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM)

Friday: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Saturday and Sunday are regular days off, in addition to holidays observed by the Embassy, unless otherwise instructed.
