Juan Karlos’ ‘ERE’ marks historic debut on Spotify’s global chart

Filipino artist, Juan Karlos Labajo, has made music history. His latest single, “ERE,” from the album “Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1,” is the first-ever Filipino track to appear on Spotify’s global chart.

The song first debuted at No. 177 on the chart, garnering over 1.22 million streams, as reported by music website Chart Data. Remarkably, it later soared to No. 87 after receiving an additional 230,000 streams.

Local sources from Chart Data also highlighted that “ERE” is uniquely the first Filipino song to secure over a million streams on distinct days.

While Labajo has not formally addressed this accomplishment, he echoed the significant achievement through his Instagram Stories by reposting Chart Data’s announcement.

Andrea Brillantes, who has shared the screen with Labajo on the show “Senior High,” shared her astonishment and praise on X (previously known as Twitter), by reposting Chart Data’s post with a shocked emoji.

Interestingly, “ERE” made its Spotify debut on August 4, almost two months before the release of the complete album, “Sad Songs and Bullst Part 1.” The album, comprised of nine tracks, showcases a spectrum of love and melancholy, a sentiment echoed by Labajo when he described it as a collection of words and melodies that transition from love to sadness, personally labelling them as “bullst.”

A day after the album’s release, a live performance of “ERE” was uploaded on Labajo’s YouTube channel. Currently, it boasts 3.25 million views, surpassing the combined views of the song’s official and lyric videos.

Fans can anticipate the second installment of Labajo’s album, set to release early next year.
