A frustrated overseas Filipino worker in the UAE took to a popular Facebook group to caution fellow kababayans against a couple allegedly involved in rental scams.
In a detailed post on Reklamo Trip UAE, the landlord recounted how the couple moved into a rental unit in November without handing over any payment. Despite multiple promises, they allegedly stayed rent-free for six months, racking up nearly AED 10,000 in unpaid dues, including utility bills shouldered by the complainant.
The tenant claimed the man and woman gave repeated excuses, citing delayed salaries and job issues. They eventually stopped working altogether. According to the post, the couple eventually vacated the premises without notice—leaving the room in poor condition and even abandoning a cat and her kittens.
The landlord said they tried to settle things amicably, with the couple promising to pay monthly and agreeing that legal action would follow if they failed to comply. But after two months, no payments were made, and communication stopped.
“Alam ko kasalanan ko rin na naging sobrang mabait ako,” the landlord admitted, sharing the story in hopes of warning others. “Syempre Pilipino tayo, pero sana huwag naman ganito.”
