Emirati among two dead in tragic Oman road collision

Two men—one Emirati and one Omani—were killed in a violent head-on collision on a highway near Thumrait in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate on Saturday, marking another heartbreaking road tragedy in the region.

According to preliminary findings and video footage circulating online, both vehicles involved in the crash were reportedly traveling at high speeds when they collided head-on. The incident occurred on a two-way stretch of road often used by travelers en route to Salalah, a popular destination during the Khareef season.

Surveillance cameras captured the devastating moment of impact, showing the force of the collision that claimed the lives of both drivers.

One of the victims has been identified as Nasser Al Kindi, a respected Omani mathematics teacher who was traveling with his family. His family members reportedly survived the accident. The Emirati victim, who was also accompanied by another Emirati citizen, likewise saw his companion survive the crash.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the exact cause of the crash as investigations continue.

This fatal collision comes just weeks after another deadly accident in Dhofar. That crash, which happened on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road near Maqshan, involved three vehicles and led to the deaths of five people—two Omanis and three Emiratis. Eleven others, including children, were injured in that earlier incident.
