Sheikh Mohammed takes test ride on UAE’s upcoming Dubai-Fujairah train

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, recently took a test ride on the Etihad Rail passenger train from Dubai to Fujairah, marking a major milestone in the development of the UAE’s first national rail network.

The journey served as a review of the project’s advancement, as the network prepares for its public launch in 2026. Once completed, the railway will link 11 cities and regions, stretching from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east.

Designed for high-speed travel, the train can run at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour and is expected to accommodate 36 million passengers annually by the year 2030.
