Topacio files contempt petition vs. Larry Gadon over Supreme Court remarks

Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio has filed a petition for indirect contempt against Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation Larry Gadon before the Supreme Court, citing the latter’s alleged disrespectful statements toward the judiciary.

The petition comes after Gadon criticized the High Court’s recent ruling declaring the impeachment articles against it as unconstitutional — a move that triggered mixed reactions from the public.

Topacio said Gadon’s remarks were inappropriate and showed a lack of regard for the Supreme Court’s authority.

He was joined by other petitioners and rally groups who submitted similar complaints. Duterte Youth Party-list Chairman Ronald Cardema expressed support for these actions and called for broader accountability.

Cardema also urged that Kabataan Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel and Rep. Renee “Kaka” Co face similar contempt charges, accusing them of undermining the Supreme Court’s decision.
