Baste Duterte dares Marcos allies: Magpa-drug test muna bago laban kay Torre

Acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte didn’t hold back as he fired verbal jabs at Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III ahead of their much-anticipated charity boxing match this Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

“Matagal ko na talagang gustong makabugbog ng unggoy,” Duterte quipped in a fiery statement, alluding to Torre while confirming his participation in the bout.

The challenge began as online banter but quickly turned serious when Torre accepted the invitation and began training. The PNP chief confirmed the match venue, saying, “A ring has already been set up there para sa Sunday,” referring to the iconic Manila sports complex.

But Baste added his own twist—he’s calling for mandatory drug testing for all elected officials under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration before the fight happens.

“Papalagan ko ‘yang charity-charity mo na ‘yan. Walang problema, if it will answer the issues nitong bansa natin. I can do that,” he said, adding that he’s willing to take on the fight if it brings attention to national concerns.

The clash between Duterte and Torre isn’t just a spectacle—it comes on the heels of political tension sparked by the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte earlier this year, which Torre helped execute under the International Criminal Court’s order.
