7-year-old too scared to go outside after road scare—UAE police step in

A 7-year-old boy from Khor Fakkan was left shaken and fearful after a speeding car nearly hit him at a pedestrian crossing, prompting immediate intervention from Sharjah Police to help him recover from the psychological trauma.

The child was crossing the road when a vehicle ran a red light and almost struck him. While the boy escaped physical harm, the emotional toll was severe—he reportedly refused to leave his home after the incident.

Responding swiftly to a report from the child’s mother, authorities visited their residence and extended psychological support. The police offered comforting words, gave the boy gifts, and arranged a guided tour with officers to help rebuild his trust and sense of safety.

Colonel Dr. Walid Khamis Al-Yimahi, Director of the Police Department of the Eastern Region, said the initiative was meant to restore the child’s emotional well-being and reassure him that his community is a safe place.

The reckless driver involved has since been penalized, with authorities impounding the vehicle for 30 days. Sharjah Police reiterated that violations like running a red light can lead to not only fatal accidents but also deep psychological trauma—particularly for young children.
