Tulfo calls for dismissal of NAIA staff over alleged jewelry theft worth P500,000

Senator Raffy Tulfo is pushing for the dismissal of ground handling staff allegedly linked to the theft of P500,000 worth of jewelry at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3.

The incident involved passenger Kimberly Nakamura, who reported her jewelry missing after boarding a flight to Singapore on June 28. The items were later recovered following a review of the airport’s CCTV footage.

According to Tulfo’s office, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has identified those allegedly responsible and has referred their names to New Naia Infra Corp, the Civil Aeronautics Board, and the airlines involved.

While Nakamura has chosen not to file charges after recovering all her valuables, Tulfo emphasized that accountability must still be upheld.

“Since DOTr cannot pursue a criminal case of attempted theft without the affidavit and consent of the victim, Tulfo urged the airlines and security agencies of people involved to sanction their employees by terminating their employment to ensure that these acts will never be tolerated,” his office said in a statement.
