The Philippine population reached 112.73 million as of July 1, 2024, according to the latest official data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
This updated figure, drawn from the 2024 Census of Population and Housing, has been formally recognized by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through Proclamation No. 973 signed on July 11, 2025. The count includes residents across all 18 administrative regions, as well as Filipinos stationed at embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.
Compared to the 2020 population of 109.04 million, the country has grown by 3.69 million over four years. However, the annual population growth rate has decelerated to 0.8 percent from 2020 to 2024, down from 1.6 percent between 2015 and 2020.
According to the PSA, “The slowdown in the growth rate may be driven by several interrelated factors such as but not limited to declining fertility and birth rate, elevated mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic and subdued migration activity.”
Region IV-A or Calabarzon emerged as the most populous area, with 16.93 million residents. It was followed by the National Capital Region with 14 million, and Central Luzon (Region III) with 12.99 million. Combined, these three regions accounted for nearly 39 percent of the country’s total population.
Meanwhile, the Cordillera Administrative Region recorded the smallest population at 1.81 million, or roughly 1.6 percent of the national total.
In terms of population growth rate, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) posted the fastest rise at 3.43 percent annually. Central Luzon and Calabarzon followed with rates of 1.08 percent and 1.07 percent, respectively. The Bicol Region, on the other hand, reported the lowest growth rate at -0.07 percent.
The census was conducted from July to September 2024, with July 1, 2024, as the reference date. President Marcos has ordered the PSA, in coordination with the Presidential Communications Office, to distribute the census results to all concerned government agencies and offices.
