Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro has submitted her courtesy resignation, in compliance with the directive of Acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez.
Castro confirmed the move in a message to GMA News Online, saying, “Mayroon na po. Nagfile na ako.”
Her filing comes after Gomez, who recently assumed the top PCO post, instructed all presidential appointees within the agency to submit their courtesy resignations by Friday, July 18, as part of what he described as a “standard transition process.”
However, officials who filed their resignations—including undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, directors, and agency heads—remain in office unless otherwise instructed.
“Until any action is taken by the Undersigned on such courtesy resignations, all… appointees shall continue to report for work and perform their usual duties and responsibilities,” Gomez clarified in a memo.
He also emphasized his intent to conduct a “fair, honest-to-goodness, unbiased performance audit” of the agency before making further decisions.
