Despite scattered rain showers in parts of the country, the UAE endured blistering heat on Monday, July 14, with temperatures soaring past the 50°C mark.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that Al Dhaid in Sharjah recorded the highest temperature of the day at a sweltering 50.2°C around 2pm. In stark contrast, the coolest spot was Damtha in Al Ain, which dipped to 27.1°C at 5am.
Rainfall surprised residents in some areas, with light to moderate showers recorded in parts of Sharjah, Fujairah, and Khor Fakkan. However, the relief may be short-lived.
According to NCM, the heatwave is expected to persist throughout the week. The forecast also indicates a continued chance of convective cloud development—particularly in the eastern regions—until Friday, July 18.
