Taiwanese tourists can now enter the Philippines visa-free for 14 days

Starting July 1, Taiwanese citizens can travel to the Philippines without a visa for stays of up to 14 days, as part of a new policy aimed at revitalizing tourism and reinforcing diplomatic reciprocity between the two nations.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed that the visa-free entry is valid until June 30, 2026, in line with Presidential Directive PBBM-2025-1539 issued earlier this year. The move mirrors Taiwan’s visa-free access for Filipinos and signals a mutual effort to boost travel and cultural exchanges.

“The Bureau of Immigration is fully aligned with the President’s vision of promoting tourism and strengthening our bilateral ties,” said Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado. He noted that this initiative not only contributes to the country’s tourism recovery but also “affirms our commitment to reciprocate Taiwan’s generosity toward Filipino travelers.”

In 2023 alone, over 235,000 Taiwanese nationals visited the Philippines. With this policy, the BI expects those numbers to climb further, giving a lift to local economies that rely on tourism.

The bureau has directed its frontline personnel to ensure smooth and efficient processing at all international ports while maintaining professionalism. Taiwanese travelers are reminded that the visa-free stay is strictly limited to 14 days, and cannot be extended or converted to other visa types.
