A man was killed in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, after an argument during a drinking session turned deadly on the evening of June 28.
Authorities identified the victim as 48-year-old Allan Banuag Dayle, who suffered fatal hack wounds on the back of his neck. According to initial police reports, the incident happened in Barangay Looc while Dayle was drinking with four companions, including the suspect, known only by his alias “Popoy.”
In a GMA News Online report, police said the suspect became irritated after Dayle was allegedly singing too loudly. “Ang iyang istorya, saba daw nagkantaha ba unya. Ang biktima saba, unya siya hilom ra man na siya. Naa siguro silay panaglalais… mao toy hinungdan, iya gyud napatay ang biktima,” said Police Executive Master Sergeant Celmyr Daponlay of the Villanueva Municipal Police Station.
Following a swift investigation, the suspect was arrested and admitted to the crime. “Ako lang siya nahilabtan, na-tripan lang. Ako siga natigbasan. Lain lang gyud kaayo ang panahon karon,” he told police.
Authorities are preparing to file murder charges. “Ato gyud isang-at ang kaso nga murder para matagaan ug hustisya ang biktima,” Daponlay added, noting that the court will determine the final charges based on available evidence and medical reports.
An autopsy on the victim is currently underway.
