Double gold medalist Carlos Yulo is setting his sights on a new goal—not just another Olympic appearance, but a chance to compete alongside his younger brother Karl Eldrew at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“Sana makapasok kami sa LA,” Yulo said in a Philstar.com report during the inauguration of the Tagaytay CT Velodrome on Monday, expressing his dream of sharing the Olympic floor with his sibling.
The younger Yulo recently earned an Olympic Solidarity scholarship from the International Olympic Committee—the same support Carlos received back in 2017, which helped launch his global gymnastics career.
Carlos, now one of Asia’s most decorated gymnasts, said he’s thrilled for his brother and is hopeful they’ll both make it to LA. “My wish is for him to learn many things, be always safe, and for us to become teammates in 2028 and compete in the individual all-around,” he shared.
Karl Eldrew is currently under the guidance of Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya, the same coach who once mentored Carlos during his early competitive years.
