From selling in the market to scaling the corporate world

Life is a series of decisions and transitions, some more challenging than others. But as Clarice Mae Suarez, a Sales and Marketing Executive at Corporate Group Company, states, “We may get tired, but we don’t stop for we will reap the blessings and result of our good work if we don’t easily give up and get discouraged.”

Clarice’s journey started long before her role in the corporate world. At the age of 22, fresh with dreams and ambition, she began her overseas career with a supplier/manufacturer of PPE items. Starting in customer service, she faced the myriad challenges of multicultural diversity and high management expectations. With diligence and faith, she rose through the ranks, going from Senior to Accounts Receivable.

“I learned a lot of things, managed pressure while maintaining diligence in work,” she tells The Global Filipino Magazine.

And her efforts didn’t go unnoticed. In recognition of her contributions, she was promoted with a salary increase and awarded a certificate of achievement.

However, Clarice wasn’t just driven by career aspirations. Her heart carried a deeper motivation.

“The reason I opted to work abroad was to help my sister finish college. By God’s grace, I made it through. She graduated BSBA major in Finance Management. This is my greatest achievement in life,” she reveals with pride.

Finding purpose amid challenges

While her current role allows her the joy of communication, hitting sales targets, and enjoying company perks such as team-building activities, Clarice also values the personal growth she’s achieved from working overseas.

“It makes me grow, mature, and opens a door of opportunity to study in other countries,” she shares.

However, her path to success wasn’t devoid of challenges. Clarice recalls the hardships her family endured in the Philippines, from sleeping in markets to her father’s strenuous job as a laborer.

“Life is not always fair,” she muses.

Still, with faith and determination, she graduated from Ateneo de Cagayan with a BSBA degree.

“During these times, I just looked up to my parents and especially to God, who will never fail us when we have faith,” she asserts.

Clarice’s future holds dreams beyond her corporate role. She envisions traveling, establishing a family-run cafe business, and helping the less fortunate.

“I want to help people, especially those who don’t have food to eat. I can help and encourage them through inspiring words,” she shares, revealing her deep sense of purpose.

Moreover, Clarice dreams of pursuing a Master’s degree, continuing to grow and learn.

Words of wisdom

For her fellow Filipinos struggling abroad, Clarice’s advice is rooted in faith and resilience.

“Dream and take steps towards that dream for yourselves and family. Always include God in your life and plans, and it will never fail,” she advises.

Further, she stresses the importance of celebrating small victories and trusting in God’s timing.

She encourages them to save and invest wisely, hinting at real estate and insurance as viable options.
