Alfamart is cracking down on social media stunts after several vloggers were seen climbing into its freezers and lying on bags of ice for online clout.
The Sy-owned convenience store chain issued a strong statement this week, saying it will not hesitate to pursue legal action against individuals who treat their store equipment like a stage for viral antics.
“These acts are not only unsafe but pose a serious hygiene risk to the products inside,” the company said, following the recent incidents that circulated on social media.
Alfamart assured the public that any potentially contaminated items have already been discarded and the affected freezers have been thoroughly disinfected. The company stressed that protecting the safety and health of customers is its top priority.
Online, Filipinos largely supported the move, slamming what they described as reckless and immature behavior. Many netizens echoed the sentiment that store equipment should never be used as props for views.
