Cacdac honors OFWs on 30th Migrant Workers Day, pledges continued protection and support

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac extended his heartfelt tribute to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families on the 30th Migrant Workers Day, commending their decades-long role in building a stronger nation through sacrifice, excellence, and unwavering resilience.

“For three decades, our OFWs in every corner of the globe have demonstrated excellence, strength, resilience, and have immensely contributed to the significant growth and development of the Philippines and their host countries,” Cacdac said in his official statement on June 7.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “OFW@30: Bayan, Bayani, Bayanihan,” which echoes the collective commitment to safeguard the rights and welfare of Filipino migrant workers, as enshrined in Republic Act 8042, the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995.

Cacdac reaffirmed that the DMW, guided by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s leadership, will stay relentless in its mission to protect and empower OFWs through a rights-based approach. This includes stricter actions against illegal recruitment, stronger bilateral partnerships, financial and welfare aid via the AKSYON Fund, and comprehensive reintegration programs for returning workers.

“We are here to support those dreams in far-off lands and seas… the whole nation and the government is here with you all the way,” Cacdac emphasized.

He assured that every Filipino worker, whether aspiring or returning, will find a home in the DMW—“ang Tahanan ng OFW”—as the agency continues to build an inclusive future where no OFW is left behind.
