Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have taken legal action against seven individuals of different nationalities for allegedly spreading misleading information and harmful content on social media platforms since the start of 2025.
According to Ras Al Khaimah Police, the individuals are now facing prosecution after being found to have posted visual and written materials that included false claims, inaccurate data, and provocative content that could incite public unrest and threaten community security.
The force revealed that their cybercrime unit, through continuous electronic surveillance, detected several posts violating the UAE’s stringent laws against the spread of rumours and false news.
“These actions are in direct violation of national legislation designed to safeguard social stability and public order,” the police stated, reaffirming their stance on zero tolerance toward online behaviour that aims to stir fear or mislead the public.
The police urged residents to rely solely on official channels for information and warned against sharing or reposting unverified content. They reminded the public that the law strictly prohibits using digital platforms to publish or circulate misleading data or propaganda that may spark public panic, damage the economy, or threaten national security.
