The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has released the official mugshots of expelled Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., following his return to the Philippines after being deported from Timor-Leste.
Teves, who is facing serious charges including murder and multiple counts of attempted and frustrated murder, is being held in a high-security facility inside the New Bilibid Prison. Authorities allege he orchestrated the March 2023 assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, a killing that shocked the nation and left several others dead.
The NBI took custody of Teves upon his arrival in Manila, conducting standard booking procedures including fingerprinting, mugshot-taking, and a medical exam. He was flown in via a military aircraft after Timor-Leste officials canceled his visa and deemed his continued presence a threat to national security.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier welcomed Teves’ return, saying, “It is now time for Arnie Teves to face justice.”
Teves had sought asylum in Timor-Leste but was denied. He had been staying in the country even after his Philippine passport was canceled and was expelled from the House of Representatives in August 2023 for prolonged absence and disorderly behavior.
Now back under Philippine jurisdiction, Teves is expected to undergo trial for the high-profile charges filed against him.
