The driver of the SUV involved in the fatal crash at the entrance of NAIA Terminal 1 has entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment before a Pasay court. The incident, which took place on May 4, claimed the lives of two individuals and injured four others.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the driver is facing multiple charges, including reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, several counts of physical injuries, and property damage. He remains out on bail after posting ₱100,000, as ordered by the Pasay Regional Trial Court last May 16.
Present at Tuesday’s hearing were the grieving families of the victims — including the parents of four-year-old Malia Kates Yuchen Masongsong, Danmark and Cynthia Masongsong, and Ricky Faustino, father of overseas Filipino worker Keo Faustino.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) had earlier revoked the driver’s license and imposed a ₱2,000 fine for reckless driving. This penalty was issued under the agency’s Law Enforcement and Traffic Adjudication System.
Security footage reviewed by the Department of Transportation showed no evidence of deliberate intent to cause harm. However, the impact of the tragedy continues to weigh heavily on the victims’ families, who are seeking justice for their loved ones.
