Estrada’s son, nephew injured in alleged attack in Boracay; suspects face charges

The son and nephew of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada were reportedly injured following an alleged assault by three individuals in Boracay in the early hours of Saturday.

According to a GMA News report, Estrada’s son Julian Ejercito and nephew Jefferelly Vitug were returning from a bar when they were allegedly attacked from behind by three residents. One of the suspects was heard saying to Vitug, “Masyado kang maangas.”

Estrada clarified there was no altercation between his relatives and the suspects inside the bar prior to the incident. Even after Julian fell to the ground, the attackers allegedly continued to kick him.

The senator personally traveled to Boracay the same day to check on his family’s condition and to file charges against the three suspects.

“Bilang ama at tiyuhin, hindi maiiwasan na labis akong mag-alala nang makarating sa akin ang masamang balita,” Estrada said, expressing deep concern for his son and nephew.

He also emphasized that, “No parent or relative ever wants to hear that their loved ones have been victims of such a senseless act in a place that should be a friendly community and a source of relaxation.”

While cases have already been filed, Estrada called for a full and fair investigation. “I trust that the proper authorities will investigate this case thoroughly and ensure that justice is served.”

He added that his family remains thankful the victims are now safe, but hopes the incident highlights the importance of ensuring public safety, especially in popular tourist destinations.
