Viewers of CBS6 Albany witnessed an unexpected twist during a live morning broadcast when coanchor Olivia Jaquith began experiencing labor contractions—on air.
The unusual update came straight from the news desk, with coanchor Julia Dunn opening the show by announcing, “We do have some breaking news this morning—literally. Olivia’s water has broke, and she is anchoring the news now in active labor.”
Jaquith, who was already two days past her due date, quickly clarified, “Early labor, early labor,” and kept her composure throughout the three-hour broadcast.
Despite being offered the option to leave, the first-time mom chose to remain at the studio, saying she preferred staying busy with her team rather than “nervously waiting around at the hospital.”
Her colleagues rallied around her, even documenting the experience on Facebook Live. Jaquith later shared with Times Union that joking around with the morning crew “helped me get through contractions much easier.”
A day later, the station celebrated the arrival of baby Quincy, Jaquith’s first child.
