Emirati man hailed for rescuing elderly woman, domestic helper from house fire in Sharjah

A local hero emerged in Sharjah after an Emirati man risked his life to rescue an elderly woman and her domestic worker from a fire that broke out in their home.

Amer Ali Al Qadiri was commended by the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority (SCDA) on Tuesday for his swift and selfless response. Authorities said his efforts helped prevent what could have been a devastating tragedy.

“His bravery in fighting the flames until the arrival of civil defence teams contributed to averting a potential disaster,” said Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Al Shamsi, acting director general of SCDA.

Al Shamsi emphasized the importance of community vigilance and lauded Al Qadiri’s courage, adding, “Crises reveal the true values and character of our people. I call on everyone to emulate Al Qadiri and other honourable men and women serving the community.”

The SCDA said such actions not only save lives but also inspire a stronger sense of social responsibility across the emirate.
