The UAE Cybersecurity Council has introduced the nation’s first comprehensive guidelines for drone operations, aiming to fortify cybersecurity in the face of rising drone usage across various industries.
As drones become more integral to sectors such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, and logistics, the council emphasized the need for stringent operational protocols to prevent cyber threats that could jeopardize airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity.
This landmark initiative is a product of a strategic collaboration between the UAE Cybersecurity Council and Digital Reach, a leading provider of cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions under the Reach Group. The partnership also includes Shieldworkz, a company specializing in cybersecurity for operational systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and drone technologies.
Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, underscored the importance of the guidelines, stating that they reflect the UAE’s proactive leadership in securing the digital realm.
Malek Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, affirmed the group’s dedication to reinforcing the UAE’s digital and cyber infrastructure, while Mohamed Khaled, Vice President of Growth and Corporate Transformation at Reach Group, highlighted that the guidelines not only promote safe innovation but also directly address the evolving cyber risks that threaten the nation’s airspace.
