Expo City Dubai is set to become a hive of excitement this World Bee Day with a two-day festival at Terra, offering families and nature enthusiasts a chance to celebrate the vital role of bees in supporting ecosystems. Taking place from May 24 to 25, the event will feature an array of fun, educational, and interactive experiences.
From storytelling sessions with Katy Urban, who will bring the world of bees to life through captivating tales, to hands-on activities like bee hotel building and honey tasting, the festival promises a day of discovery for all ages. Children can dress up as pollinators in a bee-themed costume corner, while creative visitors can design bee-friendly art.
One of the highlights is a live honey extraction demonstration, providing a rare opportunity for visitors to witness the journey of honey from hive to jar. Families can also join a collaborative art project, helping to name Terra’s own Queen Bee. The winner will receive a personalized certificate, a jar of Terra honey, and a bee-themed gift.
Phillip Dunn, resident beekeeper and Senior Manager of Sustainability at Expo City Dubai, emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “Bees are essential to ecosystems, food systems, and climate resilience, and through experiences like this, we are empowering every visitor to take positive action.”
The festival is part of Terra’s ongoing commitment to pollinator protection, which began with the launch of the Jane Goodall Pollinator Garden in January 2025. Home to over 30,000 UAE-native bees, the garden is a living tribute to biodiversity and environmental learning.
Visitors can enjoy the festival with a Terra or Attractions Pass, or opt for a Bee Festival-only ticket (AED 30 for adults, AED 50 for children, free for kids under three). Tickets are available at the Expo City Dubai box office or online at terra.expocitydubai.com.
