American singer Chris Brown has been formally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following an alleged assault at a nightclub in central London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The incident reportedly took place on February 19, 2023. Brown, 36, was taken into custody at a Manchester hotel in the early hours of Thursday. He is expected to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed the charge. “We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861,” said Adele Kelly, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North.
Kelly emphasized that the legal process is now active, and Brown is entitled to a fair trial.
Reports from The Sun indicate that the R&B star arrived at Manchester Airport on a private jet on Wednesday afternoon. Brown is currently on a UK tour, with multiple performances scheduled for June and July.
