Senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta has formally asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to immediately proclaim the top-ranking senators in the 2025 National and Local Elections, citing his current position as 6th in the race with 14,895,858 votes.
In a four-page motion submitted to Comelec, Marcoleta’s camp emphasized that the statistical improbability of the 7th to 12th-ranked candidates surpassing the top six justifies early proclamation. They argued that the standings of the leading senators have become secure and should be reflected in the official canvass returns.
Aside from seeking early proclamation, Marcoleta’s team also called on Comelec to address alleged discrepancies in the vote count. The document highlighted a dramatic fluctuation in his vote total — from 15,001,038 at 1:32 a.m. to 12,244,219 at 2:11 a.m. — citing a difference of nearly five million votes.
Marcoleta’s camp argued that such a significant change raised questions about the integrity of the vote transmission process.
In response, Comelec Chairman George Garcia previously explained that the discrepancies may have resulted from issues on the receiving parties’ side — such as media and monitoring groups — where their software may have failed to filter out duplicate entries transmitted from the clustered precincts.
