Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has secured his third and final term, emerging victorious in the 2025 mayoral race. Sotto, who ran as an independent candidate, won by a wide margin over his opponents Sara Discaya, Cory Palma, and Eagle Ayaon.
According to partial and unofficial results as of 10:54 a.m., Sotto garnered 286,897 votes. Discaya followed with 24,163 votes, while Palma and Ayaon received 254 and 243 votes, respectively.
In his message to Pasigueños, Sotto expressed gratitude for the fresh mandate. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng Pasigueño sa kanilang tiwala, sa kanilang suporta at sa bagong mandato, fresh mandate na ito,” said in a GMA Integrated News report.
Looking ahead, Sotto emphasized his commitment to deepening the reforms he initiated in Pasig. “Pagtitibayin natin ‘yung nasimulan na pagbabago, reporma,” he added, underlining that the 2025 campaign was notably challenging. “Talagang lahat ng puwedeng pagdaanan, napagdaanan namin.”
Sotto also pointed out a shift in voter preference, saying, “Ang tao, ayaw na sa tradisyonal na politika. Ayaw na ng lumang kalakaran gaya ng vote buying o kickback sa gobyerno.”
While acknowledging that no government is perfect, Sotto highlighted the significant progress made in Pasig over the past six years. When asked about any plans to seek higher office, he firmly redirected attention to his current responsibilities. “Sana hayaan din po ako ng mga tao na magtrabaho at hindi ako laging pine-pressure,” he stated.
In other election results, Dodot Jaworski secured the vice mayoral seat with 237,117 votes, defeating Iyo Caruncho Bernardo, who had 58,841 votes, and Kuya Marc Dela Cruz with 4,619 votes.
For the congressional race, Roman Romulo won with 284,871 votes. His rival, Ian Sia, who was disqualified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for his controversial “single mom joke,” received 13,807 votes.
