Exploring life’s creative possibilities is a journey Rocky Turen has always embraced. As a multi-talented Filipino artist, Rocky has seamlessly navigated multiple artistic fields — from music to acting, from vlogging to film. His life is a vivid illustration of how passion can drive a person to continuously reinvent himself.
Finding his voice in music
Rocky’s journey began in music. Hailing from Manila, Philippines, he launched his solo career with his debut album “Pandemia” in 2020, a release that captured the global mood of isolation and introspection. “We Cannot Go Outside,” one of his notable singles, resonated with listeners during the lockdown, a song that explored the themes of solitude and reflection. He later formed The MaineStream in 2022 and his latest band, The HearSays, which released the album “Side Effects of Youths Mental Breakdown,” featuring tracks like “Sunflower Bloom,” “Paalam, Sa Tabi Ko,” “Laya,” and “T.Y.M (Titig Yakap Matunaw).”
Rocky’s musical talents extend beyond singing and songwriting. As a multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist, and professional mix engineer, he has been deeply involved in every aspect of music production. “Music is more than just a passion for me — it’s a way to tell stories, to express thoughts that are sometimes difficult to say,” he shared.
Exploring the world of acting
While his love for music remains strong, Rocky has ventured into acting, where he has made a mark with a series of significant projects. His first major acting experience came in 2021 with “LUNAS,” a Lenten special produced by Cove Records. This was followed by “Gusto Mo Bang Sumama,” a film produced by Lyrical Frames Productions, where he explored the themes of friendship, music, and personal choices.
His recent work in “The Cradle,” a five-minute silent film by Director Alejandro Miguel Linantud and Zack Revilla, challenged him to deliver a nuanced performance without dialogue. “It was a tough performance because everything depended on expressions and body language. But that’s the beauty of silent films — they teach you how to convey emotions without words,” Rocky explained.
A creative life with no boundaries
Beyond music and acting, Rocky Turen is also active in the digital world. He runs “Rocky Turen’s Vlog Ventures,” a platform where he shares diverse content, including music, entertainment, politics, and lifestyle. His journey as a vlogger began with “KalyeSurvey” on Facebook, a show supporting Senator Marc Gamboa’s Senate candidacy, where he engaged with the public and covered political events.
Currently, Rocky is revisiting his debut album with a special release titled “PANDEMIA: Revisiting” for its fifth anniversary in July 2025, where he will re-remix and re-construct some of the songs. “Music is a living thing. It evolves, and I want my audience to experience it in new ways,” he shared.
