Stolen medical supplies returned to Dubai shop owner before they even knew it was missing

Dubai’s Al Raffa Police Station has successfully returned stolen medical supplies worth AED 123,000 to a local shop owner who was unaware of the missing items. The recovery followed an investigation led by the station’s ‘Intelligence and Security Teams’ unit.

According to Brigadier Ghalib Al Ghafli, Acting Director at Al Raffa Police Station, the specialized unit played a crucial role in detecting the theft, which occurred over time from a warehouse connected to the store. Officers grew suspicious of a group’s activities and launched an investigation, eventually discovering that the gang had been systematically stealing medical products.

Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al Awar, who oversees the unit, revealed that the suspects were caught with a large quantity of medical supplies. After being confronted, they admitted to the thefts, which were later confirmed through surveillance footage.

Since its establishment in 2023, the ‘Intelligence and Security Teams’ unit has tackled over 1,300 tips, solved more than 700 cases, and received 27 certificates of appreciation for its contributions to public safety. Authorities are now looking into whether the group has links to other similar crimes.
