The Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced today a substantial 78% reduction in school transportation fees.
The reduction is set to be implemented from the onset of the 2023/2024 school year.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi.
She specified that the revised transportation fee for non-Qatari students, who are non-GCC citizens studying in public schools, would now be QAR 220 per semester, should they opt for school transportation.
Previously, the transportation fees were QAR 1,000 per student per semester.
In addition to the fee reduction, the Ministry has also decided to fully exempt the children of imams and muezzins affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs from both book and transportation fees.
The cost of textbooks, which was QAR 150 per student per semester, will also be waived for children of Qatari women and people with disabilities.
