A priest in Quezon province has gone viral online after a video showed him blessing churchgoers not with the usual holy water sprinkler—but with a garden hose.
The unconventional blessing took place on April 5 and was captured by Krishan Ian Malaluan, whose video has since spread across platforms and even caught the attention of international media. American outlet ABC 7 Chicago reposted the footage, highlighting the uniquely Filipino moment.
In the video, the priest can be seen walking down the church aisle, calmly spraying holy water from a hose while an assistant helps manage the setup. Parishioners waved handkerchiefs in the air, appearing both joyful and amused by the creative blessing.
“This was my favorite moment,” Malaluan reportedly said.
The humorous twist on tradition prompted a flurry of comments online. “Holy Spirit express delivery,” one TikTok user joked. Another quipped, “Washing all the sins and future sins,” while one netizen laughed, “Only in the Philippines, bro.”
Many believe the scene was filmed at the Kamay Ni Jesus Healing Church in Lucban, Quezon—a site already known for drawing large crowds and spiritual pilgrimages.
This isn’t the first time the priest has gone viral. A similar video surfaced in 2023 showing him using the same hose setup to reach the crowd during a blessing.
While Holy Water is usually sprinkled with an aspergillum, the priest’s garden hose approach has not only refreshed churchgoers but also brought a dose of humor and cultural charm to the global stage.
