Basketball fans in the UAE are in for another thrilling spectacle as the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers are set to face off during The NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025 presented by ADQ. The preseason matchups will take place at Etihad Arena, Yas Island, on October 2 and 4, marking another major milestone in Abu Dhabi’s growing portfolio of world-class sporting events.
The Knicks, featuring stars like Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges, will battle the 76ers, headlined by MVP Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. Several players, including Brunson, Bridges, and Embiid, have previously played in Abu Dhabi through Team USA competitions, making their return highly anticipated.

The NBA Abu Dhabi Games are part of a multiyear partnership between the NBA and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), aimed at promoting the sport’s growth and bringing top-tier basketball experiences to the region. The collaboration has already introduced youth programs, NBA Cares initiatives, and interactive fan experiences to thousands across the UAE.
“Hosting The NBA Abu Dhabi Games for a fourth consecutive year reflects our commitment to empowering youth and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s status as a global sporting hub,” said H.E. Saleh Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi.
NBA Managing Director for Europe and the Middle East George Aivazoglou added that fans will have the rare chance to watch two of the league’s most iconic franchises live, while New York Knicks President Leon Rose described the games as “an exciting moment” for the team as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.
Meanwhile, 76ers Managing Partner Josh Harris expressed enthusiasm about connecting with fans in the Middle East, calling the trip “an incredible opportunity to represent Philadelphia and engage with a vibrant new community.”
