A beach trip turned tragic in Siruma, Camarines Sur after a 10-year-old boy died and another was injured following a jellyfish sting on Friday, April 25.
According to police reports, the two children were swimming off Barangay Penitan when they came into contact with a jellyfish that stung different parts of their bodies around 12:30 p.m. One of the boys lost consciousness and was rushed to a hospital, but he was declared dead before arrival.
The other victim, also 10 years old, is currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have since issued a warning to beachgoers about the presence of dangerous jellyfish in the area.
