Seven dead in bakery stabbing in Antipolo; suspect surrenders

The number of fatalities in the brutal stabbing incident at a bakery in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City has climbed to seven, the Rizal Police confirmed Monday.

Two more bodies were found following the initial report of five deaths in the early morning attack on April 22. All the victims—male bakery workers—were reportedly asleep when they were stabbed inside the bakery where they both lived and worked.

Police said the suspect is now in custody after voluntarily surrendering at Camp Crame. His name has not yet been released pending further investigation.

Authorities are looking into a possible misunderstanding as the motive behind the attack. “We are continuing our investigation, including forensic analysis and statements from witnesses,” said the Rizal Police in a statement.

The suspect’s background, including any history of personal conflict or mental health issues, is also under review.

Residents of the area have been left reeling from the gruesome killings, with many urging tighter workplace security, especially in establishments that serve as both residence and place of work.
