Abu Dhabi authorities have intensified efforts to maintain the city’s aesthetics and public safety, imposing heavy fines on property owners who neglect their buildings or allow them to deteriorate.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has started implementing The Regulations on the Preservation of Public Appearances under Law No. 2 of 2012, which aims to prevent any activity that negatively impacts the emirate’s visual appeal. This includes the maintenance of green spaces, walkways, public roads, and buildings.
Under the law, property owners found violating these regulations face a fine of AED 5,000 for the first offense, AED 10,000 for a second violation, and up to AED 20,000 for repeated offenses.
