Filipinos trapped in Cambodia recount torture, beg PH government for help

Three Filipinos stranded in Cambodia are pleading for government assistance to return home, claiming they were tortured by their Chinese employers after attempting to flee a scam operation, GMA News Online reported.

The victims, now hiding in a safehouse, said they were forced to work in what they initially believed was a call center. When their escape plan was uncovered, they were reportedly beaten by 15 Chinese individuals and left with wounds and burn marks.

One of them, “Ben,” said he was locked up for three days without food, fearing for his life. Another, “Alice,” lost consciousness after being thrown onto gravel and was burned with cigarettes.

Despite their injuries, they managed to escape when their attackers left. However, they remain in danger as their former employers continue to pursue them.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has assured the victims that efforts are underway, in coordination with INTERPOL, to facilitate their safe return to the Philippines.
