VP Sara Duterte calls for prayers, peace, and reflection as Ramadan begins

Vice President Sara Duterte has expressed solidarity with the Muslim community as they mark the start of Ramadan, calling for prayers and reflection during the holy month.

In a video message, Duterte encouraged everyone to pray for peace and forgiveness amid the challenges faced both personally and as a nation.

“We are all called to reflect on the values of sacrifice and obedience as cornerstones to a path leading to enlightenment and grace,” she said.

The Vice President also shared her hopes for a better future for Filipinos, saying, “May the spirit of Ramadan guide your prayers and reflections while we look forward with profound hope and optimism to an inclusive and dignified future for every Filipino.”

The Bangsamoro Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, earlier confirmed that Ramadan officially begins on Sunday, March 2, following the absence of a crescent moon sighting on February 28.

Ramadan is one of the most important periods in Islam, observed through fasting, prayer, and self-reflection as a way to strengthen faith and discipline.
