OFW Hospital expands services to include Pampanga residents

The OFW Hospital in Pampanga is now extending its medical services beyond overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, following a new partnership with key government agencies.

On Tuesday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) signed an agreement with the Department of Health (DOH) Region 3, Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH), and the provincial government of Pampanga to provide wider healthcare access to the general public.

The signing, led by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, took place during the DMW’s Bagong Pilipinas OFW Caravan in San Fernando.

“This is a shared commitment to deliver quality healthcare not just for OFWs and their families, but also for the people of Pampanga,” the DMW said.

With the new agreement, the hospital will implement a 60:40 ratio, prioritizing 60 percent of its services for OFWs and their dependents, while 40 percent will be allocated to non-OFW residents in need of medical care.

As part of the partnership, Pampanga’s provincial government will assign medical specialists to the facility, while JBLMGH will provide regular consultations. The DOH will also support infrastructure upgrades through its Health Facilities Enhancement Program.

Since opening in 2022, the OFW Hospital has served over 86,000 patients and continues to offer a range of medical services, from consultations to specialized treatments. It remains a key project of the late DMW Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople, aimed at improving healthcare access for OFWs.

Despite the expanded coverage, Cacdac assured OFWs that the hospital will stay focused on their healthcare needs, regardless of how long they have been home.
