Dubai Police has launched the Ramadan Games, a sports tournament running from March 1 to 22, in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan. Organized by the Sports Excellence Centre under the General Department of Training, the event offers cash prizes exceeding AED 800,000.
The initiative was unveiled at a press conference held at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, attended by senior police officials, including Brigadier Muhammad Thani Ateeq, Deputy Director of the General Department of Training Affairs, and Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Basit Ali Abdul Rahman, Director of the Sports Excellence Centre. Media representatives and Dubai Police personnel were also present.
Aligned with the Year of Community initiative, the tournament is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Dubai Sports Council, and Emirates NBD, along with internal partners from various Dubai Police departments and councils.
The Ramadan Games aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle during Ramadan, fostering fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship. It is open to eight community categories, including Dubai Police employees, retirees, their families, students from Dubai Police Academy and HEMAYA School, participants in the Police Innovation and International Leadership (PIL) diploma, the general public, and People of Determination.
Participants can compete in 23 different sports, ranging from football, swimming, and cycling to traditional Emirati games, shooting, Jiu-Jitsu, and archery. The competitions will be held at six venues across Dubai, including the Dubai Police Officers Club, Dubai Police Academy, and Nad Al Sheba Police Station.
Most events will take place from 9:00 PM to midnight, after Iftar, while cycling races will be scheduled between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Dubai Police encourages the community to take part, emphasizing unity, sportsmanship, and well-being during the holy month.
