UAE introduces 90-day visa with no local sponsor requirement: What you need to know

Dubai has long been a top destination for tourists, business professionals, and expatriates looking to explore new opportunities. Known for its stunning skyline, luxury shopping, and thriving business landscape, the city attracts millions of visitors every year. Now, the UAE has made it even easier for travelers to stay longer with the introduction of a new 90-day visa that does not require a local sponsor.

The newly launched visa is designed to offer greater flexibility for tourists, business visitors, and individuals visiting family in the UAE. It allows multiple entries and can be extended up to a total of 180 days per year, making it an attractive option for those looking for longer stays. This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader effort to enhance its appeal as a global tourism and business hub.

One of the most significant advantages of this visa is the removal of the local sponsorship requirement, which has traditionally been a hurdle for long-term visitors. Instead, applicants can apply directly through official government platforms such as the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) or the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) website or app. The application process is straightforward, requiring applicants to submit the necessary documents, pay the visa fee of AED 700, and provide a refundable security deposit of AED 2,000. The processing time typically ranges from five to seven business days, with approved e-visas sent via email.

To qualify for the visa, applicants must be at least 18 years old and hold a passport valid for at least six months. Additionally, they must provide proof of financial stability, valid travel insurance, and a return ticket or onward travel itinerary. Those who overstay beyond their visa validity will incur a daily penalty of AED 50.

This new visa policy is expected to benefit multiple sectors in the UAE. The tourism industry is likely to see an increase in visitor numbers, while professionals and investors can take advantage of extended stays to explore business opportunities. Moreover, expatriates will have the chance to host family members for longer periods without the previous sponsorship constraints.
