Newborn dies after being thrown from hotel window

Paris authorities have launched a murder investigation after an 18-year-old American woman allegedly threw her newborn baby from a second-floor hotel window, prosecutors confirmed on Monday.

According to an AFO report, the incident occurred in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, where the infant was found wrapped in a cloth, with the umbilical cord still attached. Emergency responders rushed the newborn to Robert Debré Hospital, but the baby was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m.

According to police sources, the young mother, an American student, had given birth inside her hotel room before throwing the child out of the window. She was part of a group of students traveling in Europe and has since been taken into custody.

Authorities have transferred the woman to a hospital for medical treatment following the delivery. Investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
